From characteristic country cottages to contemporary town houses, we’re confident that our products will offer a style and finish to truly transform your home. Through constant innovation the quality, durability and security of our products is genuinely second to none. As a local company we are proud to offer British Standards BS7412/PAS24 for enhanced security.
We refuse to compromise on quality
Our windows are made from British Made, high quality MarinespecTM components, with up to 25 years anti corrosion. They are built specifically for the more exposed areas of corrosion, such as coastal environments to give you worry free performance beyond your guarantee. We believe spending more on components is worth every penny, and sets us apart from our competitors.
State of the art fabrication for best quality
We have invested millions of pounds into one of the most state of the art manufacturing facilities in the UK. This enables us to provide you with consistently high quality products at exceptionally good prices. Our loyal factory workers are well trained and take pride in their work, they really care about quality. Our machines are maintained according to a rigorous servicing regime to keep them in top condition.
Superior energy efficiency
Our ‘A’ rated energy efficient and triple glazed windows are tested by the BFRC, which will save you money on your heating bills. By law your windows and doors have to meet strict thermal performance regulations but you can be rest assured that our products exceed current requirements.
Energy saving is incredibly important and so is keeping your fuel bills down. We are continuously looking for ways to make our homes energy efficient and one way is to choose new PVCu windows and doors. Not only will they help to keep your home warmer, they will reduce your energy loss.
Don’t just take our word for it!
Our suppliers conform to strictly controlled and independently monitored Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, to ensure that everything is done correctly and according to best practise.
Our windows are tested independently by British Standards for security, weather tightness and strength performance. This means that periodically, we have to send them to independent test houses, in order to be tested to destruction.
These are just some of the many standards the products in our vast range conform to. Needless to say we take the quality of our products very seriously indeed.

Are stable doors secure?
As a stable door has more moving parts and components than a normal door, you might wonder if it is less secure. However, if you choose a quality stable door this is rarely the case. Most stable doors lock together when you close them, so they function essentially as a normal door – and they are just as secure as one if you have a good locking system. If you want to make your stable door extra secure, it is possible to fit separate locks for the individual door panels, and install a bolt that secures both parts together. Talk to us today to find out how we make our stable doors secure.
Can you get PVCu stable doors?
Absolutely! Our PVCu stable doors are secure and extremely energy efficient, and as we manufacture them in our own state of the art factory, we can make them to your ideal specifications. You may think that stable doors have a rustic feel and should be made from wood, but our wood-finish PVCu doors look great, retain that traditional style and give you all the performance of PVCu. If you want some more information about the pros and cons of different materials for your stable doors, contact us today and speak to one of our experts.
How does a stable door work?
A stable door is made from two individual sections that comprise the door as a whole. The top section and bottom section can open or close independently, giving you freedom to decide how top open your door. Originally designed for horses in stables, the doors would allow the stable to be ventilated and let the horse look out while keeping them confined indoors. The same is true for your stable door; you can get increased light and ventilation into your home without having to open the door fully. When our installation experts fit a stable door into your home, they will always make sure that you understand exactly how they work before leaving.
Why have a stable door?
You might think a stable door is for rustic farmhouses or actual stables, but in fact their practicality and aesthetic are making them a more popular choice for urban back doors in the UK. By opening just the top part of the door, you can get increased ventilation and light into your home without having to worry about dust or leaves blowing into your home. You can lock the bottom door shut but keep the top one open to keep your children or pets safe inside without having to close the door completely as well. If you are thinking about installing a stable door but have some questions specifically about your property, visit one of our showrooms today to talk to one of our experts.
Do stable doors open in or out?
At Britannia, you have complete freedom to choose whether you want your stable doors to open inwards or outwards, as we manufacture our products in our state of the art factory near Bristol. It’s really a question of personal preference; if, by opening the stable door outwards you would block a window, then you might prefer to have inwards-opening windows – just make sure that there is space for you to fasten the top section back without it getting in the way! Outwards-opening stable doors are more common, as they can be pinned back without taking up any internal space, but it all depends on the space you have and what would work best for you and your home.
Can you get stable doors with windows?
At Britannia windows, we can make stable doors with glazed panels just how you want them. The most common style is to have glass panels in the top half of the door so you still get natural light in your home even when the door is closed. Installing windows in your stable door doesn’t make the door any less secure; we use toughened glass in all our outer doors for enhanced security. If there is a particular style of window that you would like, or any decorated glass options you are interested in, then contact us today to find out how we can make your stable door as unique as you are!
