Guarantees you can depend on.

We have built up a great reputation over years of delivering a first class service and excellent products, all from our local, no nonsense all-about-you company.

From characteristic country cottages to contemporary town houses, we’re confident that our products will offer a style and finish to truly transform your home. Through constant innovation the quality, durability and security of our products is genuinely second to none. As a local company we are proud to offer British Standards BS7412/PAS24 for enhanced security.

We refuse to compromise on quality

Our windows are made from British Made, high quality MarinespecTM components, with up to 25 years anti corrosion. They are built specifically for the more exposed areas of corrosion, such as coastal environments to give you worry free performance beyond your guarantee.  We believe spending more on components is worth every penny, and sets us apart from our competitors.

State of the art fabrication for best quality

We have invested millions of pounds into one of the most state of the art manufacturing facilities in the UK.  This enables us to provide you with consistently high quality products at exceptionally good prices. Our loyal factory workers are well trained and take pride in their work, they really care about quality.  Our machines are maintained according to a rigorous servicing regime to keep them in top condition.

Superior energy efficiency

Our ‘A’ rated energy efficient and triple glazed windows are tested by the BFRC, which will save you money on your heating bills. By law your windows and doors have to meet strict thermal performance regulations but you can be rest assured that our products exceed current requirements.

Energy saving is incredibly important and so is keeping your fuel bills down. We are continuously looking for ways to make our homes energy efficient and one way is to choose new PVCu windows and doors. Not only will they help to keep your home warmer, they will reduce your energy loss.

Don’t just take our word for it!

Our suppliers conform to strictly controlled and independently monitored Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, to ensure that everything is done correctly and according to best practise.

Our windows are tested independently by British Standards for security, weather tightness and strength performance. This means that periodically, we have to send them to independent test houses, in order to be tested to destruction.

These are just some of the many standards the products in our vast range conform to. Needless to say we take the quality of our products very seriously indeed.

How do you open a sliding patio door?

Our sliding patio doors are designed to be easy to open but secure when shut. To open them, you just need to turn the door handle to a certain angle to release the door, and then simply slide open the door as far as you want. The door sits on rollers so is easy to open and close, regardless of the size of the door. When you have your sliding patio doors installed with Britannia, one of our expert installers will always show you how to use your new product correctly and check that you are completely satisfied before they leave.

How wide is a two panel sliding glass door?

If you’re thinking of installing sliding doors, it’s always important to consider how wide an opening you will need. Sliding doors are great for small properties as they don’t have any swinging doors that take up space, but it does mean that only one half of the door can open at any one time. The standard size for a patio door is around 1.8m (6ft), which would give you an opening of 90cm (3ft) out to your garden. At Britannia we can make sliding glass doors to whichever dimensions you want, whether it’s fitting it in a small space, or making statement sliding glass doors that make up the full outside wall. What is a lift and slide patio door?

Lift and slide patio doors use a different mechanism to classic sliding patio doors. Whereas traditional sliding doors are always on the sliding track, when you fully close a lift and slide patio door, it comes off the track. This secures it in the closed position, so you don’t get any draughts coming through. To open, you simply have to turn the handle and lift the door slightly to place it back on the track, and then it rolls effortlessly open. You can also lower the door off the track at any point, locking the door in an open position – great for when you have kids!

With our aluminium range of lift and slide patio doors we can take sizes up to 5400mm wide using only two panes of glass!

Are patio doors energy efficient?

Patio doors can be extremely energy efficient, but they can also be the opposite; it all depends on the quality of the door. If you choose a double or triple-glazed door with a high-quality PVCu or aluminium frame and a good locking system, then your patio doors should be extremely energy efficient. Keep your eye out for A-rated glass with a low U-value; the lower the U-value, the less heat it allows to escape. At Britannia, we manufacture our patio doors ourselves with the highest quality materials to make sure they are as energy efficient as possible.

Are sliding patio doors easy to break into?

Although sliding patio doors are made mostly of glass, they are incredibly secure. Double or triple glazing is very difficult to break, and at Britannia we fit toughened glass as standard on all doors and windows below 800mm from floor height to give you even more security. We also use sophisticated locking mechanisms on all our exterior doors so that you can feel safe and comfortable in your home. All our products are approved by the UK Police-led Secure by Design initiative, which hopes to reduce burglaries by increasing security measures in the home. If you want to find out more about ways to keep your house safe from potential break-ins talk to us today to find out the most secure options for your patio doors.

How much does a patio door cost?

The cost of patio doors can vary widely depending on various factors. This includes the material you make them out of, the size of patio doors you want, and the type of glass you want. As a general rule, aluminium will cost more than PVCu, the larger the door the more expensive it will be, and double glazing will be cheaper than triple glazing. Whichever you choose, you can rest assured that all our products are of the highest quality and are fitted by professionals. Why not contact us today for a free quote?
