Features and benefits

Guarantees you can depend on.

We have built up a great reputation over years of delivering a first class service and excellent products, all from our local, no nonsense all-about-you company.

From characteristic country cottages to contemporary town houses, we’re confident that our products will offer a style and finish to truly transform your home. Through constant innovation the quality, durability and security of our products is genuinely second to none. As a local company we are proud to offer British Standards BS7412/PAS24 for enhanced security.

We refuse to compromise on quality

Our windows are made from British Made, high quality MarinespecTM components, with up to 25 years anti corrosion. They are built specifically for the more exposed areas of corrosion, such as coastal environments to give you worry free performance beyond your guarantee.  We believe spending more on components is worth every penny, and sets us apart from our competitors.

State of the art fabrication for best quality

We have invested millions of pounds into one of the most state of the art manufacturing facilities in the UK.  This enables us to provide you with consistently high quality products at exceptionally good prices. Our loyal factory workers are well trained and take pride in their work, they really care about quality.  Our machines are maintained according to a rigorous servicing regime to keep them in top condition.

Superior energy efficiency

Our ‘A’ rated energy efficient and triple glazed windows are tested by the BFRC, which will save you money on your heating bills. By law your windows and doors have to meet strict thermal performance regulations but you can be rest assured that our products exceed current requirements.

Energy saving is incredibly important and so is keeping your fuel bills down. We are continuously looking for ways to make our homes energy efficient and one way is to choose new PVCu windows and doors. Not only will they help to keep your home warmer, they will reduce your energy loss.

Don’t just take our word for it!

Our suppliers conform to strictly controlled and independently monitored Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, to ensure that everything is done correctly and according to best practise.

Our windows are tested independently by British Standards for security, weather tightness and strength performance. This means that periodically, we have to send them to independent test houses, in order to be tested to destruction.

These are just some of the many standards the products in our vast range conform to. Needless to say we take the quality of our products very seriously indeed.

Common questions

What is a flush casement window?

Flush casement windows are attached to a frame by one or more hinges at the side, which allows it to swing open. You can either opt for single or paired windows to be fitted within one frame and, as they are hinged on the outside, the window swings outwards, letting in maximum light and air.

Although the most common way for a casement window to be attached is through a side hinge, you can choose a top hung (otherwise known as awning casement window) which is hinged at the top – perfect for wet climates as it blocks out the rain. If you’re looking for a casement window for a basement, then bottom hung (hopper windows) might be a more suitable casement window option.

Are flush casement windows more energy efficient?

Flush casement windows are fully sealed as an airtight seal is created by the window sash pressing against the frame when closed. This stops the cold outside air from getting in, whilst ensuring that any inside warmth doesn’t escape. As this naturally insulates your home, you won’t need to spend as much on energy bills: your room will feel warmer without even having to turn the thermostat.

For maximum energy efficiency, casement windows can be made to be double glazed, or even triple glazed. Not only does this mean you spend even less money on heating your home – it also helps to block out noise from outside, perfect for if you live on a busy street.

What is the difference between a flush casement window and a picture window?

As flush casement windows are attached to the window frame by a hinge, they can be swung in or out. This makes them a great way to let fresh air in to circulate around the home. Picture windows, on the other hand, are better designed to allow for a beautiful panoramic view of your outside space.

Whilst casement windows are typically small, comprising multiple sashes or panes, picture windows are made up of very few window panes, so that you have little obstruction to your outside view. Unlike casement windows, picture windows are fixed which means they can’t be opened

Are flush casement windows safe?

The special hook shaped locks that insert directly into the frame of casement windows make them very difficult to break from the outside. Whilst intruders may try to pry them open, casement windows make this very hard to do, and their multi-locking system adds another element of protection.

At Britannia, our flush casement windows have the added benefit of being covered by the Official Police Security Initiative, Secured By Design. This means that you can enjoy your casement windows, comfortable in the knowledge that they will keep you and your loved ones safe all year round.

How much do flush casement windows cost?

The prices of flush casement windows can vary greatly, meaning there is no single figure of cost. The price of a casement window depends on the material used, the time taken to fit the windows, and how much work needs to be done to fit the window. For example if you were simply replacing an old casement window then this would cost less than installing a new set of casement windows entirely, as this would require added labour.

UPVC casement windows are the cheapest materials to opt for. If you’d prefer a different finish, such as timber or aluminium, this is likely to cost more. For a more accurate measure of cost for casement windows, contact us for a free, no obligation quote to find out more.

Are flush casement windows worth it?

Flush casement windows are a brilliant way to let in light and air, ensuring your room has a fresh feel to it. Casement windows are also brilliant insulators – the compression seal technology fits snugly to the window sash, creating a tight seal which prevents cold air from getting in and warm air escaping, helping you to save on your energy bills.

Casement windows are also ideal for those who have a disability or limited mobility: a crank mechanism opens and closes the window, which requires little effort. In many cases, casement windows can be simply shut and opened with one hand.
