We refuse to compromise on quality
Our windows are made from British Made, high quality MarinespecTM components, with up to 25 years anti corrosion. They are built specifically for the more exposed areas of corrosion, such as coastal environments to give you worry free performance beyond your guarantee. We believe spending more on components is worth every penny, and sets us apart from our competitors.
State of the art fabrication for best quality
We have invested millions of pounds into one of the most state of the art manufacturing facilities in the UK. This enables us to provide you with consistently high quality products at exceptionally good prices. Our loyal factory workers are well trained and take pride in their work, they really care about quality. Our machines are maintained according to a rigorous servicing regime to keep them in top condition.
Superior energy efficiency
Our ‘A’ rated energy efficient and triple glazed windows are tested by the BFRC, which will save you money on your heating bills. By law your windows and doors have to meet strict thermal performance regulations but you can be rest assured that our products exceed current requirements.
Energy saving is incredibly important and so is keeping your fuel bills down. We are continuously looking for ways to make our homes energy efficient and one way is to choose new PVCu windows and doors. Not only will they help to keep your home warmer, they will reduce your energy loss.
Don’t just take our word for it!
Our suppliers conform to strictly controlled and independently monitored Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, to ensure that everything is done correctly and according to best practise.
Our windows are tested independently by British Standards for security, weather tightness and strength performance. This means that periodically, we have to send them to independent test houses, in order to be tested to destruction.
These are just some of the many standards the products in our vast range conform to. Needless to say we take the quality of our products very seriously indeed.

What is a casement window?
Casement windows are one of our most versatile window designs. The window sash is attached to the outer frame with hinges that are hidden in a euro groove – this means they cannot be seen from the outside. You can opt for single windows, paired windows or any variety of casement windows within the same frame. Casement windows open outwards and are protected from sudden winds with friction hinges.
Although the most common way for a casement window to open is using side hinges, you can also choose top-hung casement windows. This has the hinge at the top of the frame and the handle at the bottom, which is often used in kitchens (as the opening mechanism is easy access) and bathrooms (as you can open the window without sacrificing privacy). The top hung option also helps block out water in a sudden rainfall.
Are casement windows more energy efficient?
Casement windows are fully sealed as an airtight seal is created by the window sash pressing against the frame when closed. This stops the cold outside air from getting in, whilst ensuring that any inside warmth doesn’t escape. As this naturally insulates your home, you won’t need to spend as much on energy bills: your room will feel warmer without even having to turn the thermostat.
For maximum energy efficiency, casement windows can be double or even triple glazed. Not only does this mean you spend even less money on heating your home.
What is the difference between a casement window and a picture window?
As casement windows are attached to the window frame by a hinge, they can be swung out. This makes them a great way to let fresh air in to circulate around the home. Picture windows, on the other hand, are better designed to allow for a beautiful panoramic view of your outside space.
Whilst casement windows are typically small, comprising multiple sashes or panes, picture windows are made up of very few window panes, so that you have little obstruction to your outside view. Unlike casement windows, picture windows are fixed which means they can’t be opened.
Are casement windows secure?
The special hook shaped locks that insert directly into the frame of casement windows make them very difficult to break from the outside. Whilst intruders may try to pry them open, casement windows make this very hard to do, and their multi-locking system adds another element of protection.
At Britannia, our casement windows have the added benefit of being covered by the Official Police Security Initiative, Secured By Design. This means that you can enjoy your casement windows, comfortable in the knowledge that they will keep you and your loved ones safe all year round.
How much do casement windows cost?
The prices of casement windows can vary greatly, meaning there is no single figure of cost. The price of a casement window depends on the material used, the time taken to fit the windows, and how much work needs to be done to fit the window.
UPVC casement windows are the most cost effective materials to opt for. If you’d prefer a different finish, such as timber alternative, flush casement or aluminium, this is likely to cost more. Are casement windows worth it?
Casement windows are a brilliant way to let in light and air, ensuring your room has a fresh feel to it. Casement windows are also good insulators – the compression seal technology fits snugly to the window sash, creating a tight seal which prevents cold air from getting in and warm air escaping, helping you to save on your energy bills.
Casement windows are also ideal for those who have limited mobility: a crank mechanism opens and closes the window, which requires little effort. In many cases, casement windows can be simply shut and opened with one hand.
